Hiya, My son is in year 2 and all through year 1 his supposed best friend refused to let him play because he had started up the purple hand gang from Horrid Henry. So they had quite a few arguments and his best friend turned quite a few of his other friends against him. My son doesn't like Horrid Henry because he says he is horrible and not very nice to everyone. I was quite glad when it was the summer holidays as they wouldn't be seeing each other during the holiday only to find out that when we went back to school last week my son and his friend were friends again as his friend let him back into the Purple Hand Gang. He came home from school today and told me a lie and after speaking to him he said it was the number one rule in order to be in the gang to lie and not be nice to everyone. He was also told that in order to be in the gang he shouldn't do his homework. I am very worried about this because he is just refusing to do homework now. It's also a very tricky situation as am friends with the supposed best friends mum and don't want to get in an argument with her. Not sure what to do any advice out there please?

There doesn't seem to be anything in the purple hand gang rules about lying or not doing homework. TBH I would have been very surprised to find there was as the books and TV programme are generally very keen for Henry to make the right choices in the end.
It sounds more like your DS had fallen foul of a group if boys with a strong and slightly bullying leader. It us very normal at that age. I would ask their teacher to speak to the whole class during circle time about how to be friends and play nicely.
In the meantime, tell your DS that in your house he sticks to your rules, which means no lying and homework done.
