Are there any home edders in cambridge? we are seriously thinking of taking this route for dd as she hasn't got into the school her brother is at. We are going to an appeal but that is just a joke really. if it comes to it, DH will stay at home to HE. I am very ignorant about it all though - although we nearly did this with ds. Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello ccolma
I have bumped the thread about 'how to find other home educators' for you.
If you check out the EO local groups link, there is a link for Cambridge home educators.

I have also bumped the 'books about HE' thread and the 'websites about HE' you'll find lots of info about home ed from there hopefully, well at least enough to start off with!

Hi coolma, i went along to a 'Not end of school picnic' last summer at Milton country park to meet some Cambridge based home edders as we've also been considering it. We are still undecided, i'll try and find links/an email address for you.

coolma · 15/06/2010 07:31

Thanks!

Hi, i've a contact email for one of the organisers in Cambridge. Would you like to email me [email protected] and I can send it to you.

julienoshoes · 17/06/2010 08:29

coolma
It may just be that there isn't a lot in plain view on the web.
I'd use the contact james is offering and you may well be very pleasantly suprised

james79 · 17/06/2010 09:09

Yes there seemed to be loads of activities that this group organises, I can email you the list that was sent to me last year just to give you some idea of what things they do.

coolma · 17/06/2010 14:57

That would be absolutley brilliant. will e mail you tonight.

Thanks

If it's ok with you James79, I will also email you and pass on my details as I live in Cambridgeshire and home educate. There's lots going on here don't worry Coolma! I can't CAT as my subsription has expired and I'd rather not post my email address, but maybe James79 could pass on my details to you Coolma?

What school is it that your dd was allocated a place at, coolma?

coolma · 18/06/2010 07:37

I don't think it would be fair to say - but it really has got a horrible reputation, the ofsted made me shudder and it is in the opposite direction to ds school! Thanks bananabrain too, and Doris I have loads but am always happy for more!!

Previously you mentioned Coleridge or Netherhall but I thought both were considered to be good schools?

coolma · 18/06/2010 12:44

No it's a primary school. Coleridge or Netherhall are the ones that we will be deciding on for ds next year1 This is for dd this september it's all madness !

Are you likely to still get a place at your preferred school on the second round of places? We didn't get allocated our preferred school on the first allocation but still got a place a few weeks later.

Fingers crossed for you

coolma · 18/06/2010 17:49

Third round come and gone and no luck.. Just prepraring for the appeal (hysterical laughter emoticon as at least 30 other parents will be there). I'm going for ground c of the infant class size appeal as her brother is there; she has a medical disabilty they have ignored and the school they have offered will more than likely destroy her intelligence completely. It's the most frustrating thing I have been through with any of my children's educations!

Thanks for your support

I feel for you, good luck for the appeal, really hope things work out

james79 · 18/06/2010 21:18

banabrain, yep no probs. Email me and I'll pass on your details to coolma
