did any of you see the dispatches programme on primary maths teaching last night???

Very scary.

They tested 145 primary school teachers and most - 55% - couldnt do the sums expected of 10 year olds

Ed Balls and Michael Gove were both invited to take the test, but both declined

The programme brought back all my bad memories of maths at school....those poor kids. They find a way of teaching them that WORKS and prodices better results and that the kids enjoy and then abandon it for SATS training....ridiculous.

I didn't see it but I believe my local primary, Barton Hill, was featured. It's at the end of the road.

Home edding is definitely the way forward.

It's this docu that has actually got my DS2's dad much more about the education system and the possibility of me HE'ing DS2. If I can find some way of accessing social groups locally when I don't drive and can't afford out-of-school clubs.
