Apologies if you're already aware of this but I've just stumbled upon www.whatdotheyknow.com and I thought it might be of interest to readers here.
Amongst the various FOI requests and replies there are several related to HE. Each County Council has it's own section so it is easy to browse your own (or others!) to see what LAs have to say in response to HE enquiries.
I found this reply, from Cambridgeshire County Council (April 2009), particularly interesting:
"It is extremely rare for a home-educating family to be visited by an
EWO."
Hmmmm.... not in the experience of those Cambs HE parents I know it isn't!
It's a handy website which enables you to make your own requests and assists in following them up if they are not replied to. Well worth bookmarking in my opinion, especially if you ever have reason to take issue with your CC and want to quote some of their own facts and figures at them.
