Pre-HE group

Does anyone fancy starting a pre-HE group - online, probably, with some meet ups if it works? DS is 14 months so it's a bit early but I saw that FlamingoBingo did this on another thread and thought it was genius. We're based in Bicester / Oxford for the record.

I never join in on the HE threads as I feel a bit of a fraud, since DS is still small, and I don't have anything to contribute. But I am so grateful for them - so much advice and experience in one place, it's gold dust.

Anyone fancy it?

Great idea - we are too far away - Essex, but someone has just started up exactly what you describe in our town! Its great to meet other parents and children with the same goals as yourself, and to get excited about the future! Plus i think its a good idea for the children to make friends with other kids they can socialise with during the daytime for when their other mates go off to school. Its also very useful for when I get the 'wobbles' and get scared!

Are you a member of EO? You could see if anyone local would be up for it.

Good luck!

Well I'll join in online - I've got two and a half pre-school aged children (the half is my reception aged child who isn't officially HEd yet but will be next September - eek!).

I could do with something to remind me to put in effort with the little ones educationally-speaking, as well as with the big ones (although the little ones do just join in and absorb what the others are doing).

I recommend getting on your local HE email lists and asking if there is anyone else lurking on there with pre-school aged children - you might just be surprised! Then arrange to meet at a soft play place a few times and, if it's working, try booking somewhere to meet more regularly

I'll join online.
We have intermittant HE under 5's meetings in Manchester.
I have a 3-and-a-half year old and a 21month toddler.
Lots of HE families with 5-16 year olds also have younger children and think this stuff is great. You may have to ensure it is okay for over 5's t tag along.
I can borrow one local Surestart nursery facility for free, but it is underused. I think they might charge otherwise.
