Have had to name change, as my school has spies on here...

No, really, it does

Started to think about HE over the summer for my dts in Y1, and largely thanks to mn have gone from thinking "oh, those HE middle class cranks and their poor, unsocialised children" to "we could/should do that"

My children are still in school because ideally I'd like us to meet up with other home edders before we take the plunge. If we can't manage to do that, we may well take them out anyway and see if we just meet people when we're out and about

Is there anyone on here in South East London (Lewisham, Southwark, Greenwich, Lambeth)who home eds infant aged children?

tia!

Hi
I'm in South London, but SW, not SE. There are lots of home edders in SE London and definitely some regular weekly meet-ups where they can run round and make friends.
We did go to groups before we started He'dding and it gave me confidence and think gave DS some children he could identify with, as everything is so geared up to school - books, TV etc. But if things are not good at school take them out and you'll meet people quickly and I'm sure before you know it you'll have to say 'no' to things as you have so many offers of things to do, you've got no time at home. Really, there is lots going on in London, depending a bit on how much you want to travel.
There's a group at Brandom Road, Lewisham I think, which sounds good for little ones as well as older ones.
I'd really recommend joining south london home ed yahoo group and maybe the central london home ed google group. If they are difficult to find let me know and I'll look for links.

Hi Lillytant,

I'm in Eltham, and there are LOADS of us in the South East.
I help to run the group in Lee, and you are more than welcome to come along this week.
Please email me at:

[email protected]

Just like to add that we've been heing now for 3.5 years and my eldest daughter just took the Bexley 11+ test, she passed no problem, so yes home edding works very well!!
As for socialising, the problem we have is trying to fit work around all the socialising we do!

Hi LillyTant,

I live in Peckham (Southwark), and home-educate my four children, 2 girls aged 7 and nearly 5, and 2 monsters boys aged nearly 3 and nearly 1. Apart from a term each at nursery ages ago, they've never been at school.

We go to the group in Lee that Runnerbean mentioned, so if you ever make it there we'll probably meet. What ages/sex are your children? I'm happy to meet up in a park or ball-park after school/at the weekend if you like

LillyTant · 04/11/2009 11:01

Psychomumma!! I have only caught you by chance- because I'd name changed, this thread wasn't on my Threads I'm On!

can you possibly email me? as I said, my school thinks it's perfectly ethical to spy on parents, so I don't want to put any details on the site

...apart from my email address

[email protected]

Hi Runnerbean/Psychomumma - I live in the area and am planning to home educate my two sons (aged 5) from the autumn onwards.

I've emailed Runnerbean using the address above, but just in case you don't get it I'd love to get in touch with people in the area who are home educating/attending the Brandram Rd group meetings, and have children of a similar age. Hope to hear from you soon - thanks!

CSLewis · 01/04/2010 17:20

Hi BarbaMamma,

I'm in Southwark, have two older girls and two younger boys, and am happy to chat/meet up if you want. We'll be going to Brandram Road again once the weather improves a bit... My email is [email protected], but I'm sure Runnerbean will reply forthwith

BarbaMamma · 01/04/2010 17:52

Thanks - have just emailed you and look forward to finding out more!

Runnerbean · 03/04/2010 17:30

CSLewis,

have you changed your name?

CSLewis · 03/04/2010 19:30

[waves] Ok, Runnerbean, I know it wasn't very subtly done..! I got told off on another thread for having a name too similar to an MN oldtimer, so found myself a new one

MathsMadMummy · 06/04/2010 10:20
