I know its the summer hols but ours is ending soon and my youngest is HE but the others prefer school so we get back to the grind on the 17th August so is there any Scottish ones out there for a natter or meeting up if not to far out of course.

Still fairly new to this as I took him out 3 month before the hols and well we havent looked back. He is less stressed and more willing to learn things bless him.

He also has ADHD and Tourettes.

I'm a Scottish home edder! I'm just outside of Edinburgh.

Though I'm pretty new to it as DS1 isn't even 5 yet. I mainly lurk here but do store away lots of advice and links for later on.

Yup I know then lasses from schoolhouse very well thanks as they helped my sanity in the first few weeks as the school tried to say no and they wouldnt release my lad which was total hogwash.

We then moved area and I have had the council and the SS at the door saying I didnt follow procedure when I did and told em to go away very sweetly. It really pissed me off them being there and the way they did it.

Lad is now asking if he can go back as he has no friends poor bugger. Need to go and see what is what on the site that was yahoo mailing list.

I have joined that site ta and others for HE.

I also have a blog up and running too and Ed Balls is on there but as a take the piss kind of thing.

Hi, I'm not a home-edder but was home-edded in Scotland myself. I'm a similar age to Alison from Schoolhouse's kids.

Hi! I've not been on much recently or I'd have said hello a bit sooner. Unfortunately I can't be much help about the whole socialisation thing - DS was only HE from 13 and was still in contact with people from school so we never really got involved with HE groups etc. And now he's heading back to school for Highers, which feels quite weird

If the HE groups aren't working out in your area, are there other activities he'd maybe like to do which would give him the time with his age-group? Cubs/scouts, sports clubs, music/drama groups - whatever kinds of things he might enjoy really. Boys often seem to find it easier to make friends when they're doing some activity together, not just hanging out.

Just noticed this as I haven't been on for ages. I am an Ayrshire Home edder. I HE 4 of my 5 kids, ages 16-6. DS1 is at uni, so educates himself!

We live in Irvine and have NEVER met anyone else who HEs, although I do know of a few others, too far away for us to get buses and trains, too expensive as well, sadly.

3 of my boys have AS and one is dyslexic, so socialisation is a problem for us as well. I have been Heing for 5 years or so, if I can help with info let me know.

Hello, I am a HE in Edinburgh, 1 child in college, 1 in school, 1 HE and baby to be HE. The socialisation chestnut is one thrown up at us all from time to time by those who do not understand the joy of HE, and most of the HE children I know are better socialised than those in school.
