Learning Spanish

Can anyone recommend any resources either online/computer based or hard copy for my ds1 (5)?

We've done some of the free downloadable resources from Enchantedlearning which is good and looked at the bbc website there is also Educationcity obviously, but they presume a level of prior knowledge which we don't have.

I have looked at the Speekee site and they look like they do a fab package but the lesson plans are only available in the schools pack and it's £275, eek!
The home based one doesn't have as many resources, mainly dvd's and cd's.

I know the best way for him is to spend time in Spain, which we will do, but in the meantime he's showing a desire to learn it at home.
What can you recommend....please don't say Muzzy!

www.linguascope.com a year reg fee applies but it is worth the money. lots of downloadable wksheets made by teachers. it is designed to complement work by someone with language knowledge however.

Foxy thanks for that, it does look similar to the Speekee site a bit expensive for the site license though.

This was recommended on our local HE list recently.

have a look for some videos with children's songs on youtube. I am teaching my dd Italian and we found heaps on there "Le tagliatelle di nonna pina", "ci vuole un fiore", etc which will go through YOUR head all day, I warn promise you and they are easy for dc to pick up. There will be heaps for Spanish. If you find one Spanish dc's song, it will link to plenty of others.

I have a nice book with cds for teaching Italian and the Berlitz kids audiobooks. I'll just hunt and see if there is a Spanish equivalent, should think so.

Amazon.com will probably have heaps for Spanish if you're not bothered about him learning South American pronunciation since Spanish is foreign language number 1 in the US I think.

ok just googled amazon.com (I always starthere becasue they have the most customer reviews). Anyway if you type in Spanish for kids, tons come up, including DVDs for child beginners. Those might be good. I didn't see an exact equivalent of the book I have which is "Italian for Children" by Catherine Bruzzone but it is great.

I also have from Berlitz Kids 3 audiobooks, they make them up for various languages, same basic 3 stories. They have a song for each little chapter, listen a few times and you pick up loads that way.
