How do I find a local HE group

My DD is in Year 5 and I am thinking it may be her last year at school. How would I find my local HE groups?

Hi, You could join Education Otherwise, who would then give you details of some local groups. Or say on here where you are and others might be able to help. I'll bump up a thread which might help you more. Good luck with your decision.

Education Otherwise has recently revamped and reorganised it's website, so the information is up to date.
I expect that's why the old link to their 'local groups' page may not work so well.
They have a new map of the UK to clink on to to find local HE groups but this isn't yet as detailed as they would like, as each group has had to re contact EO giving details and permission for their group to appear on the map.

When I get a min, I'll revamp several of the bumpable threads with more up to date info.

In the meantime HSMM, do let us know if you have no joy with this new link or the HE-UK Local Groups page, and we'll try and help you find local folks.

Hi HSMM

Have you tried googling for home education and the name of your area? That's how I found our local home ed email list, and from there where all the local groups were. A local email list may also provide a way of meeting up with other HEors with children the age of your daughter outside of hte groups.

What stars you lot are. I found the web link on education otherwise. And found a way to look up local groups. This will really help me make my decision.

there's a fair few groups that have nothing to do with EO. HE-UK is a good place to start and will save you the EO joining fee.
Our local group has nothing to do with EO and can be found by googling the city name plus 'home education'
