Sex/Relationship education - guidance changed to include HE'ers....thoughts please

Discussion ongoing in our local HE groups as expected. The original guidance didn't include HE kids or PRU's as I understand it. There were some concerns raised re: their exclusion and they have now been included within the guidance.
Presumably this will only affect those known to LA's?

surely this is fair enough, wherever children are educated they do need to know about sex and relationships

Is it referring to home-education meaning children who are not able to attend school due to illness or is it actually including elective home-educated children?
I do think it should be clearer if that is the case as it could easily be misconstrued.

I didn't think that the state could dictate the method or content of education for elective home-educated children.

So far as I can see, this is only going to be guidance which is intended to help schools consider how they provide this education to the children, and isn't going to have any actual force. If it doesn't have any force in schools, then it certainly can't have any for EHE.

I think that people are worrying about it because it's now compulsory education in schools, not elective anymore.

The original guidance excluded HE'ers from the list, but there were concerns from a variety of sources and they have since been added.

I do think it's the more militant that are worried about this on the back of the recent identification of children at risk stuff.
How will they ensure that this is being covered? is what they're asking.

Personally I think if they LA's are given this as an added duty to ensure under there current role, it'll be in the form of
"there are these free workshops available to look at this topic, sign up if you would like to access them"

It's not even statutory in schools, what are the hand-twiddlers on about?

I guess any time some new regulations or guidelines come out which don't explicitly exclude EHE, there's a level of nervousness... unfounded in this case I think!
