It's all gone utterly pear-shaped at ds's school so I've decided to HE. Just can't continue doing this to him, it's cruel.

Julienoshoes - you seem to be a bit of a HE guru here so I hope you won't mind if I pick your brains (and other enlightened souls) till I get my act together.

If anyone is interested, I've posted this: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/special_needs/625069-life-changing-decision in Special Needs about the school situation.

I feel all excited now, wish me luck!!

Good luck!

If you want to do some slightly less public brain picking, there's a yahoo group for home educating mumsnetters - there's a link in the conversation called "a place to put all our resource ideas" or something like that.

Hi Streaky. quite happy to talk about HE'ing a child with ASD. Its why I took ds1 out of school at 6. (then 2 weeks later removed the other 2 kids as it semed like such a good idea)

streakybacon · 11/10/2008 11:59

Thank you all. I feel quite buzzy and excited this morning and ds is very keen to get started, which is a good sign.

needmorecoffee - would very much like to chat to you if that's OK, but am snowed under trying to get my head together atm. Will contact you later to arrange if that's OK.

Thanks for directing me to the yahoo group, onward.

To be honest, at the moment there seems so much choice of what to do and I feel rather inundated! The hardest thing I think will be deciding what to do first as there seems so much possibility.

Did you see the links to the book on home educating children with ASD? 'Paths are maade for walking' and also the link for the home ed special needs website?
You'll find the info on the 'Books about home ed' and 'websites about home ed' threads.

Am happy to chat anytime.

? see you on the home ed mumsnetters yahoo group?

Thanks Julie. Have joined the yahoo group and hope to post some background later this week. Inlaws are taking ds to Blackpool for a couple of days so I'll get a chance to breathe again!
