A friend sent me a copy of IOE life where there is an article about HE. It's based on the book by Alan Thomas (although strangely, it isn't mentioned in the article) and it is quite positive. The headline is rather annoying; Doin' what comes naturally. I felt the Doin' made it seem like HE children couldn't spell properly, particularly as its about literacy, but thats probably me being oversensitive.
Anyway, its great to see something about HE in a magazine that goes out to Teachers, Schools and the 'mainstream world' of education.
2 other interesting articles in that and the other magazine published by the IOE called London InstEd:
one is about how children learn to read much better when they have one-to-one time.
The other is entitled Grandparents are good for us and is about how its important for children, particularly teenagers, to spend time with their grandparents and older people to improve their social habits.
So that is two things that come naturally to HEdders
