DD is year 9 (age 13-14
neurodiverse

she is at her third secondary school and it’s not worked out.

I am considering online home learning but am worried about the social side.

does anyone have any experience of one that has social meet ups regularly - the opportunity to make friends?

London based.

It might be easier to find the social opportunities separately from the online learning courses. Online learning can be done from anywhere in the country (or beyond), so the kids who are signed up for a particular course won't necessarily be anywhere near each other for in-person meet-ups.

My son (also autistic) didn't do many after school activities during the time he was at school, because he was so exhausted by the stress of being there. However, while he was home educated, he had much less anxiety and so had the energy to do things with others his age. This was a mix of get-togethers specifically for home educating families, that we found via local Facebook groups, and activities that are open to any kid in the area (sports clubs & St John Ambulance were things he chose). We gradually built up what he did socially, as this was what he found hardest about school.
