Looking to connect with other home educating parents, including GCSE advice

Hi, I’ve been a home ed mum for 8 years. I home educate my five children aged 6 to 12 years. One ASD and learning disabled 9 year old & 6 year old suspected ASD.

I am looking at starting up my insta again to help other overwhelmed/newly home ed parents find ideas of educational days out/topics. Learning resources and ideas I’ve found have helped our journey throughout the years. Basically embracing the chaos together and build an online community. Because my children have endless groups, I somehow don’t seem to have 5 minutes to have adult conversations during/inbetween groups/activities haha

but I’m also looking to connect to those who home educate older children, teenager/high school age. As we’ve recently been looking at tutors to cover subjects/areas they’d like to do GCSE’s in. And I’d love to find anyone who can shed light on how applying for their children to sit the exams etc.

Welcome! On the GCSE side, the thing most people wish they'd known earlier is that the learning and the exam entry are two separate projects. Pick the specification first, then find a centre that accepts private candidates and note their entry deadline, because places go early and fees vary a lot between centres. Most families find five or six subjects, spread over two years, far more sustainable than trying to replicate a full school timetable. Some online colleges will also help you find and book the test centre. We choose Lift College for this reason and so far, so good.
