BTECs as a private candidate

My daughter really wants to do WJEC Btec level 3 diploma in criminology, the ALevel has been pulled so the btec is the only option.
Has anyone managed to do a btec as a private candidate?
If so how,?
We have a tutor but are really struggling to find an exam centre that will accept a private candidate for a btec.
