Sending email to LA-Scotland

Hi, I'm not sure how much I should write and how much I shouldn't. I have to send an email to ask for consent to withdraw my son from school as his mental health has really gone downhill since high school.
Could I ask in general, what you wrote to your local authority?

Thanks

When I took my DD out of school I had to first send a email to the headteacher of the school saying we have decided to home educate from this date due to these reasons and then they sent the information to the LA who then send you a form on how you plan on home educating your child, my DD struggled with mental health and this is the reason we started home schooling and a year on she is doing so much better, she had counselling and they suspect she has asd and has masked through school, the LA understood that we would be doing some work but getting her mental health under control was are main priority. I hope this help

I'm not in Scotland, but I am fairly sure the advice is that you don't have to fill in LA forms and that it's quicker to obtain consent by sending them the necessary information immediately rather than waiting for the LA to get in touch.

OP, you might like to join a Scotland-specific home ed forum in order to get good advice on the process. Here's one, for example: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ScottishHomeEducationForum

This Mumsnet forum is relatively quiet and may not get enough traffic for what you need.
