Coding and computing competitions

We aren't Home Ed but I have a higher ability asd ds12 and I'd love to get him into something that would take him away from gaming a bit and using his skill more. He is brilliant at computing and maths.

He is very self motivated and will study in his spare time if he has a specific goal (eg he was the only one in his primary to take the 11+ and did it without tuition. He got a very respectable score - although we later decided the school he got scores for was too far for him).

All of the computing competitions etc I can find seem to be school based or need a teacher to guide them.

Does anyone get involved in anything like this from home with individual kids? I don't want to push too hard with extra curricular as school is tiring for him socially but I don't want to waste an opportunity for him to get ahead if possible.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
