Hello,
Do you know what the rules are regarding a HEd child working within a family business please? Not mine as they are too young but a friend is considering removing their child from school and as they both work in their own business the child would be with them there. There is a seperate room which has facilities for the child to use to work in but what would the rules be if say she were to help out in the shop at all?
Thank you in advance.

Not a HEer but the rules are very strict about how long any child can work. I will try to find a link as I've looked in to this before for someone who employs children helping to run a ride-on railway in a park.

Here you are

don't know much about this, but would she be actually working, or would there be a possibility of one of those modern apprenticeships?

I'm here
As far as i know, the law is exactly the same for home educated children as for schooled children-they are allowed to only work a certain number of hours before school and after and so many hours at the weekend.

I am pretty sure the details are written up on a website somewhere, so I'll go ask and get back to you.

Thank you. I'll pass that link on fortyplus. Fillyjonk- she wont be working as such but may be helping out on occasion when it's busy, and Julie- I'll check back for that thank you.
