Arts Award

I'm wondering if any home ed families have children who would be interested in doing Arts Award - it's essentially a self-devised qualification for children aged 5 and up, allowing them to choose a new art form or craft to explore, meet arts practitioners, and present their work in some kind of way. More info here: www.artsaward.org.uk/site/?id=2300
I've helped deliver it to kids aged 6 and 7 in schools and saw how transformative it was for one child in particular who gained a lot of confidence from having her creative urges encouraged and recognised. I'm planning to qualify as an advisor and wondered if it's the sort of opportunity home educated children would like to do.

I would be interested in this for my 9 year old daughter. How does it work? Are you planning to run and assess it online etc? Thanks

So the first level, Explore, is comprised of 10 guided learning hours (which I would deliver online if you're not based in London!) and 25 independent ones, where she would do her own planned activities. It also involves going to see some kind of art performance and doing a little review, in any way she decides - it's flexible so no requirement for extended writing for children who don't suit that, etc - and then presenting her work. I think 9 is a great age for it because they're starting to really come into their own with planning their own projects!
