Does anyone HE with less than enthusiastic partners?

I would love to HE - DS is 2.3 so have some time yet, but DH is totally anti it. Was just wondering if anyone had to convince their partners, how they did it, etc., or whether in the end you just couldn't?

I went to the education otherwise website and found an article written by a HE dad. My dh was really impressed and it helped to convince him.
When I started out 18 months ago he was very unsure if it would work, but now he is very pro HE, because he's seen the results.
My FIL thought I was bonkers and was very vocal in expressing his negative views. However,t after a year I had my first LA visit and my dh reported back to him how pleased the lady was with my dds progress. My FIL gave me a big hug and kiss and said he was very proud of me.
Have you met up with any other HE families?
Perhaps you could go along to a local group with your ds and dh, maybe talking to others may allay his fears.
Why is your dh so anti?

Hi Runnerbean, thanks for the pointer to Education Otherwise, that article looks really good. There's lots of HE families at the church we go to (at least 5) and it was getting to know them and their children a bit better that got me interested in it in the first place. DH hasn't really looked into it at all (although he says he will, if only to be able to argue with me more effectively!), I think his anti-stance is just a gut reaction to not wanting our kids to be 'different', and me not being able to go back to work.

It's great to hear that you've got such a positive result and feedback from your FIL - and well done on your LEA inspection I think there'll be big problems from the in-laws as well (they are very conservative) but will cross that bridge when I come to it - one thing at a time!

My Dh was very reticent about the whole thing - I basically shared as much as I could with him as a researched it, and as he saw our other friends who HE, and it all sort of ruminated, he came round to the idea, and now regularly defends our choice to his very anti DB and SIL.

My main advice - don't nag
