How many GCSEs?

DD currently in Year 10 at local school, but attendance this academic year has been terrible due to social anxiety. We've enrolled her with MOS to restart Year 10 this September, with a view to taking exams in 2023. We have to make subject selections very soon but unsure how many GCSEs to sign her up for. She is totally disinterested in education (and has been for years) and has no great ambitions for the future, with very few interests outside of staying in her room with the door closed, playing online and listening to music. She does understand that she needs to stay in education until 18, but will very happily do the minimum amount required to 'get by'.
Obviously we will sign her up for Maths and English Language, and likely also double science as she has a 'vague' interest in pathology/forensics. How many other subjects should we push her towards? I have a feeling that five passes at GCSE are required by most sixth form colleges, but I honestly don't know if I've just imagined that?

If she wants to do A levels most colleges will require between 5-8 good GCSE's with at least Grade 6/7 in the subjects to be taken at A level. Usually at least 5 of them need to be Grade 6 or higher.

For college Btec courses you generally need 4/5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above.

I suggest you look now at local 6th form colleges and see their entry requirements. Then you will be making informed decisions.
