Any advice what to say I have a teacher coming round today to talk to me and my son after told her I'm thinking off home scholling as the stress is to much for my son he says he don't want to talk to her and I fell like she going to try and force me into sending him and she trying to tell my to send him to the doctors for his mental health which he has no problem with its just school he is struggling with

I hope this meeting didn't happen - but if it did, it can be the last.

Please check out Education Otherwise and read about the law and the guidelines (at a guess, I'd say whoever it was who came round wasn't following them if they were there to persuade you!)

I very much doubt this teacher has significant experience of home education, so I don't see how she would be in a position to help you make an informed decision. It seems likely that discussions with school staff would be at best unhelpful and at worst may divert you from making the right decision.

I suggest you stop talking to the school about it and do your own research, talking instead to people who ARE experts in home education. As some HE parents have observed, you wouldn't talk to your butcher about whether you should turn vegetarian.

The teacher does not have the power to force you to send your son to school. If you live in England or Wales and your child is at a mainstream school you can simply write a properly-worded letter to the school to remove him. That's the end of it. The school has no say in the matter.

It sounds like you haven't quite made your mind up yet what you want to do. Are there questions you would like to ask? What benefits do you believe home education would have for your son? What concerns do you have about removing him from school?

We would be happy to talk it through with you. It is YOUR decision, no one else's.
