Sending children to school...

Hi All.

I have been home schooling my 4 children for a while due to various reasons. They have attended school previously. But lately I have been overwhelmed by all the activities, house work and a very energetic toddler that needs constant supervising.

I have been very passionate about home education and still am to be fair, but my mental and physical health have been taking a blow lately as I have been neglecting myself to be blunt. Financially things have been hard which means I will need to find work asap.

After much deliberation we have decided as a family to send the children back to traditional schooling but a part of me is not accepting this and I am feeling out of sorts. It's like having to give up a life long dream due to reasons beyond my control.

Has anyone experienced this and what advice would you give?

Thanks for reading.

You know you are doing the right thing by putting your MH first, there are many benefits to being in a school and I'm sure your children will do really wellSmiledon't beat yourself up, and there's always the option of taking them back out further down the line if circumstances are conducive. But I'm sure things will all work out if you have a positive attitude!

I agree! With all that is happening around me, finding a positive attitude within that is tough!

I am hoping they do enjoy school and don't feel suffocated as they did before they home schooled.

Anyone else experienced something similar?

How are you getting on @SunsetOnTheHorizon ? Have you looked into school spaces? We had to school for awhile due to a change in circumstances, and will probably send them to school again soon for mostly financial reasons. I don't have much advice except to remember that nothing is forever so if things change for the better, maybe your youngest can Home Ed if that works for your family by that point. Also school spaces can be really hard to get so you might get to extend HE'ing for a little while?

Hi @AspergersMum

We did eventually get the three children bk into our local school. Looking back it was a wise decision and if I did continue home ed I would have hit some kind of breaking point.

Now that they are at school things are much calmer and thankfully they settled in nicely.

And you are right, if home ed comes up in the future I will love to continue our journey. The toddlers chosen method hasn't been finalised yet, just enjoying him and his crazy self.

Thank you for asking x

That's brilliant. I am very relieved to hear that your children settled in well and you are feeling comfortable with the decision you made. Good luck with everything!
