were looking at moving to a new area, ds is yr 7. The secondary he is at now only does german.....where we are going its only french! Hell be entering yr 8 at middle school, but obviously he`ll be behind! So home educators reccomend me a book/ website anything so we can help him out before we move. thought you guys would be best to ask. in primary he did a tiny bit of french, but on chatting to him, he hardly recalls any.

Duolingo (app) is great and free! I’m currently teaching myself Norwegian.

I really like the Usborne book 'Easy French' which covers all Key Stage 3 grammar and a reasonable amount of vocabulary. However, it is very unlike school textbooks and won't cover 'topics' they way they do.

I use it extensively for tutoring and have created a 'book' of worksheets to go with it. Feel free to PM if you want further details.

that sounds really interesting tinuviel. I might have a look at that book for my dyslexic dd. She likes French, and is coping ok with the vocabulary but the grammar is a bit of a challenge.

There is also a dvd - first fun with French with is basically a cartoon version of Usborne’s first 100 words so covers topics like clothing, colours, etc.

Why not ask the secondary he will attend about their curriculum - would it not be best to aim to match that? I am sure they will have some advice, as it can't be that unusual for children to join the school who need to catch up in French.
