Adults who have been HE'd

Am I the only person on here who was at least partially HEd? I am following all the debates with great interest, but I am finding myself reluctant to contribute because I can only talk about my own experience, and I realize that a sample of one is not stastically helpful!

I was HEd until I was 10. Loved it !!

Am considering it for DS (3.7 at the moment).

I think it's fascinating to hear from adults who were HE'd and really appreciate the opportunity to read of your experiences. I've not had that opportunity before and it is helpful, so thanks for telling us about it

Hey Katelyle!

I was "schooled" till i was 12-13ish? thou my attendance was somthing like 6%

then I had a few years where the education system went "aaarrghhhh an abnormal child what the hell do we doooo?" in the mean time I sat my self down and worked by my self on subjects that interested me. and for 2 years of my GCSEs I had a home tutor for an hour a day who mainly taught me english.

My GCSEs grades were predicted

Maths D
English E if that
biology D
and art B

That was whilst i was in school.

OUt of school and teaching my self I got

Math B
English B
Biology B
art A

I tryed to go to college for A levels but that didnt work out

I am now at Uni studying art and design

DP and I are going to home school, no doubt about it!

I LOVE learning independently. I strongly disagree with schools for alot of children. Due to to stricketr routeens, not enought one on one, bullying goes un noticed, to much politics, to many tests.

Ooh, interesting thread - though a bit late to contribute. Soooo many message boards and so many messages on them - how do you keep up with everything?!

I'm nearly 26 and was homeschooled all my life! (In USA tho.) Never set a foot in "school" until I was over 20 and went to college. I did very well at college and found no problem adjusting to it after home ed all my life.

My husband is 15 years older than myself but he too was homeschooled (here in the UK). He had a few years of state school in the beginning but most what home ed.

We have 2 children so far, though not yet school age, and definantly plan to homeschool them!

Yes, it's work to homeschool...but it certainly doesn't have to be as difficult as a lot of people think it is. And it's very rewarding too.

Not many homeschooling people up in this part of Scotland (let alone anyone who was homeschooled themselves and is now teaching their own children!). So it would be great to hear from anyone else who was taught at home.

I was home educated, never went to school in my life, and I am now 21 with 3 A-Levels, a qualified nursery nurse, and working as a professionally trained actress. Hooray for flexibility, it was the best thing I ever did!
