Hi I’m homeschooling a special needs child in the West Midlands (close to Dudley and Wolverhampton). Does anyone know of homeschooling groups/families in this area that we could perhaps connect with.

Search for "Wolverhampton home education" on Facebook. There are three or four Facebook groups for the area. That's where everyone will be making contact 😎

If you're not on Facebook: www.educationotherwise.org/index.php/local-he-groups-directory

Some people use an internet provider, other people do it themselves, or use combinations of tutors/family expertise/ skills sharing.

Personally, I don't see any point in using internet school at primary age.

Mine is younger but we use school textbooks and workbooks, Read Write Inc and Inspire Maths to be specific and I sort out other subjects myself with an eye on the NC but not ruled by it. Thinking of using Galore Park books for KS2.

That was to Newyork07 I should have said

@NewYork07, if you've got an amount of money that you're prepared to spend on internet schooling (£2000 per year ish), I wouldn't rule out spending the same amount on a really good tutor or 2 or 3 instead. Face to face tutoring was much more effective for my children, compared to online classes that we tried (even at just one session a week).

I use workbooks from the shops. I did find a international group of homeschooling families online for support and advice. My family also have a tutor once a week for recap. We have a computer and printer at home which I use to find and print out stuff for them to do. We also go to see places like the museum and browse around the art gallery.

Look up county or nearest big city or nearest big town + home ed or home education on facebook, and you'll almost certainly find lots of other people.

I didn't mean to put links in there!
