Home Ed, EHCP & personal budget?

Hi there, has anyone, or anyone you know or have heard of, ever received a personal budget that they could manage themselves via Direct Payments, when they've been electively home educating (not educating other than at school ) a child with an EHCP, which can be used for tutors, tutor centres, etc? I keep getting the impression that although extremely rare there are precedents for this, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

I've never heard of this as my experience of Direct Payments are they pay for care needs.
Doesn't mean it's not worth exploring though,

I’m looking into this as well and have been told directly by two people that they’ve managed to get it. I would like it to pay for InterHigh. I’ve only just got the EHCP renewed though so I am letting the dust settle before I apply.

This subject arose twice in the last few weeks on the Facebook group "Home Educating our Special Needs children", which you might like to join. A few people said they had a personal budget for HE. There was some advice given which looked useful.

If you do inter high or other virtual education does it affect your tax credits? I have a 17 year old so no precedent of home education. They previously had tutiton from school at home.

Dd is at Interhigh with a funded ehcp, our local pru has oversight and handle the funding

Bristol offer Interhigh as part of their local package I believe

When we joined Interhigh 3 years ago there were approximately 23 L.A.’s or schools funding places

did you have to prove that your dc could not function in a normal school environment to get funded for interhigh?

Yes, she was awarded an ehcp as she failed to transition to secondary due to emerging health conditions but that was a fight initially

Hello ,yes this was going to be what happened with my 18 yr old son,as a placement could not be found for him...in the end the lea paid for him to go to a private school.

Ahh no sorry my apologies I didn't read your statement properly..we were not home educating at the time he was on role with Lea.

I intend to apply for a personal budget as part of an EHCP. I know very little about them. All I know is that I am sure my 14yrs old daughter will never set foot in any educational establishment, whether mainstream or special and she is diagnosed with School Phobia. I just don't know how to source, and what to source, in terms of providers; tutors etc. I suppose I'm looking for examples of personal budgets
