Hello. My home ed son has the option of entering English A or B IGCSE. He will be an external candidate, and his tutor doesn't know much about IGCSE. Does anyone know about this and what each paper is or the differences between them? Thanks in advance for any info

Is it Edexcel? If it is, spec B is a three hour long paper.

My daughter did igcse English and English Literature correspondence course. She got an A for both, which is well above what she had been predicted at school. I believe that one of the reasons for this is that the tutor specialised in IGCSE so the work and her marking was directly relevant. I'd be concerned if the tutor didn't know the syllabus.

Good luck!

Thanks mag. I think he'll be ok for the English language from past papers. But he'll need an igcse tutor for English literature. I'll check it out.
