AQA GCSE Geography Home School

My Year 10 daughter is leaving her school and wants to continue with AQA GCSE geography studying independently (with a home tutor as back up). I looked at online courses but they all seem to be for iGCSE which looks very different to her to the AQA syllabus she has studied. Don't really want her to start from scratch, does anyone know if there is a reason not to home study GCSE AQA Geography?

Many thanks in advance

It is probably because of the controlled assessment component www.aqa.org.uk/student-support/private-candidates/subjects-and-qualifications/gcses
It can be very difficult to get them signed off and that is why most HE students do IGCSE.

Hi, my daughter is in exactly the same boat - yr10 GCSE geography student who wants to continue. She could really do with a study buddy even if only online if you're interested? I'm hoping she can continue with the course she was doing at school and will have to have extenuating circumstances for cw not done. I'm trying not to deregister her so that she can still take exams at school and they support us as much as possible. She's not attending due to a lack of support when she was there though.

Does anyone know a good GCSE Geography tutor or where I can find some resources for my daughter?

Can't help with GCSE geography tutors but if switching to IGCSE I can recommend Humanatees Home Tutoring. My DD is studying history with them and she thinks her tutor (Jake) is amazing.

Oh I just realised the OP was back in 2017, so hopefully her DD has already taken her GCSEs (and possibly A levels too) by now!

voiceofreason77, have you found a centre which will be willing to sign off the fieldwork?

If not you might be better off with IGCSE. I don't know much about the subject but you can join a forum to discuss it, and also ask where to get resources for self study. You'll find forum links here: he-exams.wikia.org/wiki/HE_Exams_Wiki
