Hahaha! you all though it was super-dooper freebies. No!
Just thinking on the hijacking of threads, which is rampant on HE threads I've noticed, and it's all fillyjonks fault

I think I'm now allowed off the naughty step and would like to ask how you all are?
We broke up today and are now officially on our own. It's took 5 'roses' sweets before I could type this as I've re-entered panic mode!
Oh and I'd like to know if it's too early to teach a 4.5yo about Yule and the Solstice.

Feel free to hijack or converse as you feel the need to

oh thank christ you agree sorky

though that book seems to be staying on my bookshelf...

sorkycake · 23/12/2006 21:13

I know exactly what you mean...I tried to put it in the pile to ebay but looked at it and stuck it on the shelf again....what's going on there?
Some sort of subliminal message I reckon.
How did Yule go, did you find your log? The sunrise was beautiful up here clear as a bell and all pink and orange, we welcomed the Sun King back and recited a little poem. Then Dd asked if she could open her advent calendar and Ds proclaimed Santa was taking AGES!
pmsl, they're gonna be soooo confused

Hey Fillyjonk, did I read correctly that your DCs are 3 and 18 mos? What exactly does HEing involve for you at this stage? My DD is 2.6 and we do all the 'usual' things with her - read lots, teach some counting and letter sounds, talk to her, measure ingredients out when we bake etc etc...is that the sort of thing you do? Will you send your DCs to nursery do you think?

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 24/12/2006 08:35

hey astrophe have replied on other thread

SueBaroo · 29/12/2006 23:24

Phew, just came back on for a proper read and blimey, there be some right HE-bashing going on t'other thread.
I think I'd best stay out of it. I have a feeling I'm not the 'right' kind of HEder to meet with owt else but a thumping..

Anyway, I've still got plenty of chocolate knocking about, so if anyone's about and fancies tucking in to this marvellous pile of it, feel free

Runnerbean · 30/12/2006 09:19

I will not even take part in the HE bashing thread!
I felt like I was being 'bullied' just reading it!

SueBaroo · 30/12/2006 23:43

I was kind of amused, really. I suppose we come under the 'fundamentalist christian' banner. I'd call myself a 'mentalist', really .

hey ho, hope someone resurrects this thread when they've finished all the turkey, lol.

Saturn74 · 07/01/2007 13:02

Turkey all finished!
I think I must have missed all the scandal - as usual!
What HE bashing thread?

JennyLeevesmilkandcookiesforSa · 07/01/2007 16:23

Saturn74 · 07/01/2007 19:23

Jenny, the terror will pass!
Honestly, I know it is scary, but it will pass.
I started HE with the intention to try and replicate a school day. That lasted about two days!
Honestly, you'll look back at this post in a year's time and know that you've done the right thing.
Let him deschool.
Let him find his way.
Let him follow his interests.
You can modify and adjust things as you go along.
It is completely natural to worry, but please know that it will be OK.
And that's from someone who cried every night for several months from worry over the decision to HE!
Keep posting - you will be fine, and so will your DS.
Oh, and enjoy the fact that neither of you have to get up in this awful weather to do the school run tomorrow! Could you go somewhere fun for the afternoon, so that when you get home, school has already finished?

JennyLeevesmilkandcookiesforSa · 07/01/2007 21:04

thanks for that post humphrey

i will try and go out tomorrow so am not all tense, we have been doing a bit of writing and reading but not like a school day and today he just said he did not want to so I did not push him, i know it will be okay in the end, just wish I could sleep at night and not worry

Saturn74 · 08/01/2007 10:34

How's it going today, Jenny?
(Assuming you're up! )

JennyLeevesmilkandcookiesforSa · 08/01/2007 17:56

Is fine today, I told the school he has gone deaf with glue ear, which is true and we are keeping him home today and tomorrow as we are trying to get him a hospital appointment and have one with Gp again tomorrow (all true) and they said fine.

Our advisor from schooolhouse, Scottish home ed told us if we do not get permssion by Friday we will hurry the LEA and take it from there but she said we should get at least this week off with his glue ear problem so i feel better that way. My Lewis is ill anyway he says he feels unwell adn realises he has gone deaf again. today he mostly skipped with his skipping rope and played darts with his Dad but assures me that he will do writing tomorrow lol
I am trying to relax a bit but was awake untill 3 in the morning, but slept a bit while ds and dh played Darts lol they bought the dart board last summer and it has been ignored untill today

Fillyjonk · 10/01/2007 08:23

hey all, that was a great 100th thread for the HE topic (it was 100th, btw, don't think it is now)...oh yes, all the favourites. I actually.

I kept off it for as long as i could but...ffs.

I wouldn't wade into, say, the teenagers topic and give my completely uninformed opinion on something, so why everyone feels its fine to do so with the HE topics is beyond me.

Anyway

hope y'all had a good xmas.

I have had a pleasent few weeks of "have you thought about socialisation" (whats that? I can't just lock them under the stairs all day?) and "what about science experiments?" (fgs.) and various other stimulating debates with my PIL. I dunno if they expect me to turn around and say "OMG yes you are RIGHT, we are thoroughly foolhardy and generally undereducated, having only 2 first class honours degrees and a phd betwwen us, ah well, better send them to school I suppose."

anyway

Fillyjonk · 10/01/2007 08:24

but oy jenny

CHANGE YOUR NAME BACK!

you dont want bad luck, do you?

SueBaroo · 10/01/2007 10:22

Great Christmas, ta, fillyjonk. I tried to resist the other thread too, but the sarcasm compulsion in me just got the upper hand after a while.

My BIL and SIL have started a new tactic with us - they keep sending us links and resources all about the National Curriculum, just so we can 'make sure we doing it right'..

aaanyway... have some nice, healthy all-butter shortbread everyone, here's a plateful..

Runnerbean · 10/01/2007 12:33

I agree Filyjonk. In fact I'm so fed up being blasted on my HE choice that I'm going to stick to Yahoo he groups where I can get supportive advice that's useful to me from the lovely HE community.

Jennylee · 10/01/2007 13:23

have changed the name!!!!

ds has glue ear and is all mixed up so now even more glad he is home

Socialisation be damned

Fillyjonk · 10/01/2007 16:35

have you got that lock for your understairs cupboard yet, jenny?

EO gives them out free with all new memberships, dunno if schoolhouse is the same?

Fillyjonk · 10/01/2007 16:37

(oh and ta subarooo. look I have brought bagels!

RB-what? no don't go please. I cannot stand the yahoo groups, there is far too much crystal fondling for my liking. Also you can't chat in the same way. Ah gwan and stay...

Saturn74 · 10/01/2007 17:54

RB - don't flee. We'll stick up for ya!

SueBaroo · 10/01/2007 18:32

We could be like that gang of hells grannies in Monty Python, roaming round mumsnet having a pop at everyone with our handbags and brollies...

Jennylee · 10/01/2007 18:43

oh yes cupbard locks and i think a gag might be useful!!lol

don't go runnerbean the groups is hard to chat on!
