Hi,

My MIL has offered to buy some resources for my DS. He is 8 and has Asperger's and mild ADHD.

We actually do fine without spending much but she really wants to help.

Could anyone tell me what books and resources they have found really good? He is into IT, maths, science, art, reading. Struggles with writing.

She probably means books and probably about £50-£100, maybe a set or something like that where MIL can see how it would work iyswim.

Thank you in advance x

Try sensetoys dot com

I know they look a little babyish when first viewed, and not a provider of academic resources but...they have things like worry monsters which children feed their worries into. They have lots of tactile toys which help with all sorts of behaviours.

£50?? I'd get a couple of sets of lego technik of the kind of expensiveness that would usually make you suck your teeth worriedly. Something he'll actually genuinely enjoy and that can be a springboard for imaginative play.

I've made a wishlist on Amazon. I put loads and loads of stuff in it and said "you can choose which ones you like" [pronounced please buy it all].

Got very carried away and sort of invented a new National Curriculum. I need to have a little lie down and work on my new leadership complex now.

Thank you, I'll check out sensetoys, sounds good.

In case you're still looking for ideas- the "what on earth" series of books look good
