yes, its got that bad. There arent any private schools near us. Schulamt has thrown ALL my children out of the local school for god knows what reason (favourite theory at the mo is that one bad teacher is pushing the whole thing, to cover up her total failure to teach my son, despite the fact that he is a bright, even geeky child who doesnt disrupt the class and churns out good quality work by the mile - when some bitch isnt shouting him down and squashing him the whole time.
Sorry, teachers, I am not agin teachers in general, I have NEVER come across such a lazy, poor standard, disgrace to teaching as this one.

It seems hard to get reliable facts about home ed in Germany, other than that it varies between the bundeslander. So I am asking if anyone has any personal experience/anecdotes?

I'm sorry to say that but as far as I know home ed is illegal in Germany.

I fear emkana is right. I have a second cousin who took her child out of a Steiner school for various bullying-related issues but was unable to get a mainstream place until the following academic year. The only way she could keep her child off school until then was to get a helpful doctor to sign her off as sick.

I found one web link that says its legal if your child is taught by a teacher qualified under the German system.

Other links say that you can get away with it if you tell the Schulamt that you are leaving within a year or so.
It isnt clear exactly what the situation in Bayern is though.

Wonder if I could get away with signing all the children off sick? Anyone know anybody with a quarantinable disease??

Hi Cocopopshater, what a stressful time for you all. I cannot offer any advice re HE in Germany, but just wanted to offer my support and best wishes that you find a happy solution to the situation. We HE in England, and have found it to be brilliant for all the family.
