Student finance - HELP!!!

Is it just me? We've got into a terrible tangle with DD2's aplication - twice now they've sent a letter saying she's entitled to £x but that we haven't requested it - WTF? Why do they think we've filled all the forms in???

It's complicated a) because she's starting 2nd year of Social Work which will be mostly placement, and I think I may have ticked the wrong box about what kind of placement it is and b) because our LEA is in the pilot testing scheme thing where one kind of application goes to County Hall and the other goes to the pilot scheme place in Darlington (the 2 kinds being online or postal) - I was told by some bloke in Glasgow to send the P60s etc to Darlington so I did but something's gone wrong as they're still saying we haven't applied properly...

I've spoken to Glasgow twice and to County Hall once, why can't somebody just look at the application and see what we've done wrong and correct it? At this rate she'll have no money for weeks

Sorry, this shouldn't be in Home Ed, should it?

tell them thatyou wish to cancel all applications and re apply.

then take the forms (or get your dd to) into her studant advice centre. give her all the details of your finances she needs and theyw ill go through the forms with her.

hopefully that will be quicker than trying to untangle the mess they have currently got themselves into.

does she still get a bursary? if so that shouldbe fairly simple and at least she will have that money to tide her over.

We have still got the forms, because we didn't use them, so that might be a way to go, fm - only the P60s haven't come back yet (what if they don't??? I'm not happy about this Darlington malarkey)

Yes, she should be getting her bursary, but she had to use the LEA financial notification awarding her £0 when she went in to register, and I don't know if that will make any diff?

Also the financial notification form keeps banging on about a tuition "grant" of £372 and a tuition "loan" of £828 - the whole lot is supposed to be paid by GSCC - I haven't spoken to her since Thurs, she was going to register on Fri, I don't want to bother her now until I've spoken to County Hall again so I don't know how that went.

i think you can request a new p60 from the IR so if it doesn't come back in time maybe you can do that.

tbh its all very different from when i trained as i know that now they get these loans to cover tuition costs.
the GSCC were usually pretty good and could talk you through the process over the phone but i am sure its all a hell of a lot more complicated now....i really don't envy you.

as an aside, where is she studying?
