Hi, we are withdrawing from school very soon and looking forward to educating at home. Our two are 6 yeas and 8.5 years. We hope to be autonomous in our approach, but probably will be semi structured to begin.
Does anyone have suggestions for resources for craft etc. Other than Crafty Crocodiles and Baker Ross.We would also appreciate any tips you have in general...

Lidl sometimes have nice coloured paper/card and craft kits at very reasonable prices. They also sell laminators etc. The main problem is that you never know when they are going to have them in! (They did have A3 laminators and some coloured corrugated cardboard/crafty stuff and glue today.)

Agree with Lidl, also The Works sometimes has a bit of good art and craft stuff in.

I often get things from Wilkinson's, particularly painting stuff but we've also found pastels and chalks there. Also, supermarkets often seem to have a surprisingly good selection of everything from papers (tissue, coloured etc) to felt, pipe cleaners and googly eyes. Home Bargains and The Works can be worth a look, and even places like Early Learning Centre sometimes have sales on where you can pick up a bargain.

Where do you live? I sometimes find a few good bits in the £1 store or HobbyCraft but chat can be a bit out of my way so if I need buttons etc I have a look on ebay...depends on what we want really.

You don't have to spend loads and equip yourself to look like a playgroup. Use up lots of scraps around the house (it's what my mum did in my day - I'm not that old). You just need:
something to cut
something to stick
something to mould (clay/dough)
something to colour
and you will have covered all the learning outcomes. It doesn't need to be glitzy. In fact the more glitzy it is and the more specific a purpose it has will actually limit its creative uses.

I get a bit carried away in Hobbycraft (blush) DH has banned me from going unaccompanied teehee. Glad to hear these other suggestions, next time I will be good and try lidl
