Fun in the sun?

Has anybody been enjoying the sun with their dc.
Its amazing how much you can learn in the great outdoors.
Just in our local park dd has done Maths, Art, P.E, Science, History.
Having a ball and love this time of the year, what's everybody else up to.

Ds's hayfever limits outdoor jollity for us . Not that it makes much difference at the moment as it's exam season, so he is 'otherwise engaged'.

Sounds like you're having a great time though. Long may the weather continue for you .

My 7yo spent the day at a park with a big sandpit and a water pump - like going to the beach LOL. We arrived early as I was determined to suck maximum enjoyment out of what might be the last warm dry day for a while. Then various HE friends happened to turn up until there was a proper little crowd of us: great minds think alike! Major excavations, much wet sand chucked about. We stayed six hours.

Yesterday SmallBoy (4.7) and I walked well, I walked, he rode his bike into town to go to the grocery store for picnic stuff and dinner (we were out all weekend enjoying the sun and didn't do the weekly shop and had no bread/milk/fruit for picnics). Came home, packed up a picnic and went off to the park with some other HE friends. Spent 4+ hours there eating lots of picnic food & snacks, playing in the playground, riding bikes & scooters, and paddling in the brook (and getting good and muddy in the process). When we got home he had to water all of his flowers, fruit and vegetables.

We had a similar day at the same park last week but swap brook play for woods/forest play and studying dead birds and dead moles.

The weekend was spent at windmills and watermills (two of SB's many loves/passions) and playing on the beach -- kite flying, bubble blowing, pebble throwing (it's a stone beach where we go) and tower building.

Today is the only day (currently) we have a regular/weekly commitment. We're going to go to the library, have a picnic, maybe stop for more fruit (my canning went a bit wrong this morning because I wasn't watching and I lost a jar of apricots -- bah!) and then go to SB's swimming class/lesson and soft play play with friends. Tis our Tuesday schedule most week (bar the getting more fruit). I just hope the rain holds out until we're indoors because it's such a pain trying to keep library books and swimming towel dry.

I'm glad others are getting out and about, it's so nice after lots of indoor work and play.

streaky Sorry for your ds, my ds2 suffers as well and some don't realise how debilitating it can be.

Good question, morethan - yes, I had a lovely afternoon out with DS2 (8) yesterday. We packed a picnic and walked to a nearby park for lunch. We explored the nature reserve part of the park first, before settling down to eat our picnic and chat. I did wonder what on earth could be nicer than sitting in the sunshine, cuddling your happy child. One of those perfect moments. He is so happy at the moment and it is such a contrast with the unhappy boy he was in the last few months at school.

Home ed is so much easier second time around. I'm enjoying all the good bits, without fretting about the stuff I worried about first time round.

streaky - poor ds. Ds2 suffers too and I have just started giving him children's antihistimine at night. Daren't give it to him in the day, though, because it seems to send him to sleep. I hope your ds gets through the exams ok - such a stressful time.

Lovely to see that folk are having a nice time in the good weather.

Glad HE is going well for you Toffee - it's so much easier when you can relax and get on with it .

Thanks for exam wishes. He only has two this season (History and Biology) but History isn't a very autism-friendly subject when it comes to exams so it's a toughie. Paper 2 on Friday. The hayfever hasn't been so bad the last couple of days, but associated nosebleeds have kicked in now and I'm trying to sort out an urgent cauterisation before Friday. He's panicking a bit in case he starts gushing, smack in the middle of USA in the 1920s .

Not been out and about much - but really enjoying sitting in the conservatory with all the windows open listening to the birds sing whilst learning whatever it is. Not a bad classroom :)

Well that's it the sun's gone.

We built dams, looked at photographing rain drops on different leaves, and went outdoors regardless of the showers.
Today ds is having level 3 cycle training and test in the town centre in the rain. Instructor was complaining that a school had cancelled their scheduled cycle proficiency training for this afternoon - shame those poor school children might get wet and put muddy footprints in the corridors .

It did here anyway.
So out and about again today although its half term for many dd is still working as she has lots coming up to work towards. So sort of operating a pt work day atm.
