Hi, friend of mine wants to start home schooling for her kids 3.5 and 5 year olds. could you give me any info, particularly numbers we could call to get things started. We are in Birmingham, i've tried checking local authority website, but can't seemed to find anything about home education (i did skim read tho).
thanks ever so much

I'm not actully homeschooling yet but have done a lot of research and can highly recommend both Education Otherwise (for legal stuff especially) and Muddlepuddle (for resources and getting a feel for what homeschooling is like).

As Kate F says, Education Otherwise is the place to go for all Home Ed info, especially the legalities. As long as the children are not already enrolled in a school, there is no need to inform anyone as far as I'm aware, and it's just a matter of finding a HE style that suits the family concerned. There's quite an active group of Midlands HE-ers and certainly plenty to do in the Birmingham area. I'd recommend getting in contact with Ed. Otherwise and the local contact for the area.
