De-schooling

I have just deregistered dd (8) to home educate. She was originally HE til age of 6 when we decided to give school a go, but after 2 years and 3 schools have figured out that HE is the best for us!!
Just after some advice on de-schooling.
DP (new ish- wasn't around when prev HE'd) is worried she'll fall behind, socialisation etc etc all the usual fears of HE really. I know DD will need to unwind, just wondering how long people take to de-school. And I just wanted to say hi really

Rule of thumb is one month per year of schooling... but it depends on the trauma associated with school (more trauma, more deschooling). Previous HE may mean it is shorter to get back on self-motivated track (as you both remember what it was like and never thought school had to work).

Does it matter how long it takes? Basically, you can start immediately doing all the things you were doing before and the things you couldn't fit in when attending school?
