Hello, just wondering if anyone has any experience here.
Are H.ed dc treated the same as schooled dc here?
We have received an email from one of the production team asking for the usual info for requirements of the law, part of this is permission off the school, I take it she will still be ok as she doesn't have a school. The other things are all fine like doctors certificate etc.
Also, for other productions she is considering they have a tutor during the week, who teaches a group like a classroom. Does anybody know if we would be able to opt out of this? I am thinking we won't as this is the case for long running performances.
Tia for any replies, if anybody can help or point in right direction please.

I haven't a clue, but somebody (maybe it was even you, LOL) once mentioned the following forum for parents of children who work in the performing arts: www.notapushymum.com/ and said that a number of people posting on that forum do home educate. So maybe someone on that forum would know.

Thanks Saracen, don't think it was me, but not sure. I have looked here before though and not understood much about what they were saying. I had forgotten it though, so will give it a try. Many thanks.

Hi very very limited experience as we are always well under the radar- but we've not had a problem with giving permission ourselves for time off 'school' when we've had to get a licence. I think the tutoring will be more difficult. Would it be so bad? The opportunity may outweigh it ( how exciting!). But I can see why you'd want to be sure of where you stand. Good luck

Did you get this sorted?

The school permission thing will be fine. My (schooled) son has had several licences issued covering holidays/weekends and they're never that fussed about the school permission bit then (I usually get it signed as it's easier than justifying why I haven't). They don't seem that bothered unless time is missed from school - so for example for ds2's last licence one of the filming days was changed and they needed confirmation that school had agreed to the change of date - anything changes of date for non-school days don't seem to matter much to them.

Any tutors will be arranged by the production company, rather than anything directly to do with the LEA so if you don't want to partake in those I guess you would need to clear it with them. I can't see it being an issue with the LA if you are a known home schooler.

As well as NAPM (& there are some home edders on there) there's a thread on here in the extra curricular activities section for parents of children who perform. Come and chat to us :)
