Just me and DD2 at the moment as DH is unsure whether he can get the time off work and DD1 has a part time job and is still dithering over whether to come or stay at home end earn money!

Would love to meet up with anyone? Julie and SDeuchars I met you there once before and it would be brilliant to see you again if you are coming :)

Anyone else too! We're camping with our home ed group which will be nice but I suspect DD2 will be off with her friends 22 hours a day, leaving me to make my own socialisation Grin

I can't wait until DD1 is up for a festival. At the moment she's not keen on crowds but I'm hoping next year she'll want to go.

julienoshoes · 06/06/2013 15:27

Of course I will be there! I'll be in the 'Workshops for parents' every morning, but available for a catch up coffee at the Blue Laguna again any time apart from that!
Grin Brew

My Dd2 has a set on the main stage too one of the nights.

EauRouge it's taken us quite a lot of years to get properly organised. Maybe she will come round to it, like you say.

Yay Julie, extra excited now! I can't wait Grin Brew Will definitely come and see your DD, I know you are always proud of her performing :)

My only downside is the lack of electric hook up (they do them but not in the area where my home ed group are and even though I'm a wimp I'd rather be with friends).

The other downside is if DD1 doesn't come I will miss her terribly for a whole week. But maybe she will change her mind. She has a few friends in the Surrey home ed group who she's not seen for a while and I will see if they are coming. I think if she did go she'd have a ball. I think now she's working and at college she feels a bit of a fraud as she's no longer home ed but I'm sure that won't matter. I think she misses the home ed a bit at times and maybe she thinks it will make her miss it more.

I'm doing some workshops at Hesfes on the following lines:

Educational Philosophies
Putting together an ed phil

Local Authorities
Why are councils getting better and worse. Models of good practice. Making a constructive complaint.

Special Needs
What is your council supposed to do. Changes to the law.

14-16s College
What's new from September 2013 and how will it change in the future

Exams
How home educators take exams

Flexischooling
Is flexischooling still allowed and what do I say to the school

(Ian Dowty's legal talk is on the Saturday morning July 27th)

I saw you were doing some workshops, Fiona. I'll be really interested to come along and see those :)

DH has now said he wants to come if he can get time off (I'm not deluding myself this is either because of me or hesfes - he noticed there was a fishing lake there Grin ). DD1 seemed to be upset over the whole thing and I'm really not sure why. First she said she would stay at home and work but then she said she supposed she would come. I think she's worried she will moan all week about the "camping with no electric" aspect and I will get irritable with the moaning and tell her to go home then (this has happened before!). But I'm sure she'll be lonely at home alone - a weekend would be fine but a week's a long time, so if DH does come I expect she will.

It's possible they will compromise and both come for part of the time which I think would work well. I know we will have to pay for full tickets, but still.

My son last year was all it'll be really boring if you're away for a whole week I might as well drag myself along and be bored there instead...first afternoon in he was wandering around with instrument case, got dragged in to jam session, and had a wonderful time. In fact, he'd committed to be back home mid-week for something, so convinced was he that he'd need to escape after a few days, and I have STILL not heard the end of it how I FORCED him to leave before the end.
