Home ed room lets

Ds who is 10, and I, plan home ed road trips every six weeks where we stay for three nights in a Travelodge or Premier/Holiday Inn somewhere in the UK and enjoy exploring local educational places of interest. We have great fun together and enjoy the planning almost as much as the trip!
We live in Devon so it's always a big adventure to travel anywhere else in the country.
Ds has never been to London but would love to go there and see the museums and the Tower. I have looked into accommodation in London, but the cheapest I can find is over 230 pounds for three nights. With all the additional costs associated with a London visit this is really pushing it for me.
I had an idea of asking if there are any home educating families in London who might have a single or double room they could offer us in return for either budget hotel rates or for a reciprocal visit to South
Devon?
We live close to many beaches and of course Dartmoor and have a small single room for an adult and a shared room for children.

there are lodes of privet homes in london that let out rooms, there is also the YHA, some one may let you put up a tent in there garden?
i plan to do something similar with my DD.

I was on the verge of booking the youth hostel, but ds's age means he has to share with an adult guardian of the same sex which isn't possible. Their family rooms are actually more expensive than the cheapest hotels that I have found.

You could always post on the main HE yahoo email support lists, and on FB....there may well be home ed families that are interested!

but we've had luck occasionally with travelodge rooms in their sale. and even without the sale, I recently booked got a travelodge room for my daughter and friend in Kings Cross area for around £32.

I can get the first night at a reasonable price (a Sunday), but then everything gets much more expensive on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I have found a website that has private rooms and plenty of genuine looking reviews. Waiting for a reply to my enquiry now.

You could always stay outside of London - at the end of any of the LT tube lines. The accommodation there would be a lot cheaper and, whilst it might take an hour to travel into Central London, your son aged 10, will travel for free on the tube.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have now booked through a private home owner site and have three nights in Battersea. Looking forward to doing lots of walking and seeing as much as we can.
