Question about deregistering

Sorry this has probably been asked somewhere else already! But, once I hand in the deregister letter to the head, is that it? Can I take DD out immediately or do I have to wait for confirmation or something? Many Thanks

Assuming you are in England, you just have to say in the letter that you want her to be removed from the register effective immediately, and you can take her straight out. No need ot wait for anything else.

You might or might not want to make it the end of a week to give your daughter time to say goodbye, but that's totally up to you and the situation etc.

If you were in Scotland, or your DD was at a special school, then it's different, but you would probably have said!

Thank you, yes we are in England. My DD (4yrs) has only been in 5 weeks and is miserable so not sure if we would really need to give her time to say goodbye because I"m pretty sure as soon as we offer her HE as an option she'll be so keen to never go back to school again she'll just want it to be over and done with!

Oh after that short a time, and miserable, you might just as well write the letter and take it to them in the morning, then get on with HE together!

"as soon as we offer her HE as an option she'll be so keen to never go back to school again"

Then she doesn't have to.
You can draft the letter tonight and take it in tomorrow (get a receipt) or post it registered post in the morning.
She doesn't have to go back tomorrow even.

Our children were 13, 11 and 8 when we found out that HE was a legal viable option.
We found out on a Fri eve, and the letter went in on the Monday.
Ds never wanted to go back, but our dds both wanted the chance to say goodbye to their friends.

Thank you julien as far as we can tell she hasn't really made any friends to say goodbye to :(

Then send a letter tomorrow by registered post, relax and have a celebration picnic instead!
