Anyone in Surrey, East Sussex or West Sussex?

DH has been offered a job in Croydon so it looks like we'll be moving. Currently we're between Manchester and the Lakes. I don't know the South East well but I do know that I don't want to live in Croydon!

Can anyone tell me what the HE scene is like in these areas and how awkward are the LAs?

The areas around Horsham, Epsom, Worthing, Eastbourne and Chichester have been suggested. Anywhere else worth looking at?

Thank you!

Chichester to Croydon!! Would take forever to commute!
The traffic into Croydon in the week is very heavy.
Sutton, Cheam Ewell, Banstead, Reigate & Redhill are more realistic
Cheam & Ewell are nice as is Reigate. The commute is still going to be an hour to central Croydon.

Just Re read your post, Worthing & Easbourne!!! It would take you hours!

We're looking at max 1.25 hours on the train. The office is next to the station. He currently commutes for 2.5 hours!

Hi
I live in Sutton. HE scene v good if you want to partake - several groups and alot going on. I've met several local people just via the yahoo group. LEA are reasonable and looks like they may be improving their relationship with HEders with a change of policies/communications. I wouldn't live in Croyodn myself, and not near Sutton centre. but there are some nice local areas, and further into Sussex and Surrey are lovely...if you can afford to live there.

Hello, can't speak of the HE scene, but location may be guided by which station. As far as I know, West Croydon & East Croydon stations are on different lines. Not sure how far between them to walk or use bus.
