Tower Hamlets/East London HE groups?

Hi parents,

I am to-ing and fro-ing about HE for my kids (DD 3 yo and DS 16 months) but would like to know about any HE groups in the eastend of London? Tower Hamlets specifically but I can drive/cycle with kids if necessary. Would like to try some out before I decide not to put DDs name down for school places for Reception.

Thanks very much!
Alexandra :)

Hello hello, I am so excited to hear from you! I am in tower hamlets with a ds aged just 4 and dd aged 1, there is no group in tower hamlets that I have found but maybe we could start one? I have found quite a few people around east London but no one really local. I am really keen to start a park meet up or similar. Can you pm me so we can get in contact in real life?

There is a big group in Hackney but they won't take under-5s. Do I know you? Are you on the NCT list?

revellish · 06/08/2012 20:42

Grin Hello chocolatecrispies, yes I am on the THNCT list but no, I don't think that I know you..! (Except for if you are an ELF too, in which case I think I definitely do know you because that would be too many coincidences...) Smile

I know about AWE but as you said, no under 5's which is a bit rubbish. Also found a Christian HE group in East London but I'm don't want a faith-specific group. Do you know anything Magpie Home educators?

I'm reading John Holt like a woman possessed and also recently bought 'Too much, too soon? Early Learning and the Erosion of Childhood' ed. by Richard House. Yeah, maybe we need to take the plunge and set up something... my parents (not to mention DH's mum) might not make it if I inform that we're HEing though... Sad

(If I do know you, do you just have a thing for setting up groups?!) Grin

No i don't think i know you unless you borrowed my snowsuit? I think I might know who you think I am though. I am also reading John holt madly and just ordered that too much too soon book yesterday. We must get together although it is impossible to talk with my ds around, i would actually be keen to meet some evening without children to actually talk about the ideas. Most people I know with a local group have set it up themselves, Victoria park is just crying out for a group. We haven't been to magpie as I work on Fridays.

Are you a member of any of the HE Facebook groups? I organised a meetup a few weeks ago in the museum of childhood and 5 families came, so I'm sure we could get a small group together if we organised ourselves. There is a mumsnet Facebook HE page as well as HE in London.
