I was dipping my toes back into Mumsnet after a break, but after an excursion onto another thread, where just to be nasty someone made a comment about HE children, nothing to do with the thread in question, I think Ill be off again.

Ive missed you all terribly to be honest!

How would you feel if I jumped into the Home Education area and posted that all HE kids are shallow, cannot socialise, and are products of their overbearing mothers own insecurities about school? That would be wrong, rude and hurtful of me. Just like your opinions here are wrong, rude and hurtful.

..and this is why, despite wanting the support of other HE mumsnetters, I am going to just not bother coming to mumsnet again. I want to talk to other British HE's, instead of having to go onto American HE forums where the issues and curriculum preferences are so different, but hey ho. It was passive agressive snide backhanded being nasty and attacking without outright doing so, because I dont think staffies are safe off the leash.

Is that quote what you're objecting to? It isn't really rude about HE, though it's obviously not meant to be friendly, but I think they just mean "Stereotypes are hurtful" don't they?

OP are you on FaceBook? There is a "mumsnet home educators" page on there-and is a safe place to talk to lots of HE parents, who are mostly British. To join please send a message to one of the admins, to tell us who you are, you'd be very welcome.

Op maybe post the context as well? The comments you made? Your attitude? The responses?

It did not come out of the clear blue sky you know.

To be fair, kitsonkittykat, I go on doghouse a lot (it's my second home after HE!) and I think what the poster said was fair and valid in the context. You went on there, not owning a staffy, and proceeded to say horrible things about all staffies, which were inflammatory at best. A poster basically said, how would you like it if I came onto HE and did that. Which is a very valid point. The poster was really just asking you not to come onto a thread and throw stereotypes around, because they are hurtful to the people in that lifestyle, whether that be home educators or staffy owners or anything else.

Don't leave, though. There's so much wonderful advice on here and very few people actually come on HE to criticise HE per se. We've all posted things and regretted them or caused a bigger stir than we meant to well I have anyway Blush

Put it behind you and maybe stick just on HE for a while. :)
