As the title suggests really.
Supposing this goes ahead will it make you perhaps concontrate more on academic subjects from 11-14. Will it change your views on h.e at all and will it make any difference to those nearing this stage.

I would think it would only make a difference once we knew what the access arrangements for external candidates would be. We do need to keep an eye on it to ensure that they make it possible for external candidates top take the exams. It might even be easier than with the current GCSE coursework scenario.

We have just begun HE this week and our current plan was to do exams, which ever they may be. Hopefully it will be a HE friendly system.

It's going to make me feel differently. Because of my child's age, I am just going to bypass GCSE/O'levels and my son can work towards A'levels over a four or five year plan rather than two years for GCSE and two years for A'levels. I had been thinking about this anyway.

Colleger, would your ds be the first year to take the O'level or would he be stuck in the change over period? It would be good if the course work element went as I thing there would be greater choice for H.eders, especially those wanting the traditional academic route.

My eldest will be the last year with the crummy GCSE's. :( My youngest would sit a Y11 exam in 2017 but I believe with HE he could have 4/5 A'levels by then.
