Nightly Homework Sheets

Hi, I hope you can help to point in the right direction.

My DC starts in Year 4 at local State School in September.
I know they do not give much in the way of homework - and Its possibly just one item a week.
Does anyone have tips for setting homework independently (ie as a parent).

I would like to be able to give DC 30 -45 mins homework each night that she can complete and I can check - Maths / literacy / science / KS2 stuff.

Sorry about my long-winded request.
Hope you can help.
Many thanks.

I wouldn't set her homework (not for a 9yo)

School is for maths etc.
After school I'd focus on extracurricular stuff (dancing, guides etc)

Unless she is struggling - in which case liase with the school about how to help her.

Sorry not to give you the answer you want - my kids are HE and the absolute last thing they want to do at teatime is academic work! Plenty of time earlier in the day IMHO (at school?)

What about playing some educational games or doing an activity together that would help her build her skills in a less formal way? Why is it that you want to set her homework, are you worried about her progress or do you just want to see for yourself what she can do?
