HE as a lone parent

Does anyone here do it? I'm currently separating from H and would very much like to continue home edding our 2 DC. Thankfully STBX is supportive of HE so I won't have any battles to fight on that front, although how much practical support he will offer is another matter. I guess my main worries are financial and logistical, I've been a SAHM since eldest was born and I suppose realistically I'll have to get some sort of job at some point - hopefully one that will fit in around HE [optimist emoticon]. Please tell me your reassuring tales of lone parents HEing Grin

Hi ornellaia
I know loads of home educating single parents-there are one or two who post on here, and may be along soon.

There is also a Single Parent HE email support group. People there would be a brilliant support for you, I'm sure.

"This list is for single parents who are home educating or considering home education for their families. Whilst there is a 'general' email list for home educators, sometimes single parents face unique problems. This list is to allow single parents to offer support, experience and information relating to their situation."

At present, lone parents can get Working Tax Credit (and Child Tax Credit) if they work 16 hours or more a week, as well as Housing Benefit (for rent) and Council Tax Benefit.

I have lots of info about out-of-work, in-work, and disability benefits here edyourself.org/articles/jobseekers.php
