Hi, sorry this isn't strictly HE but I figured this is the best place to ask!
I need to get my GCSE maths to a C or above. I got a D at school. I have no problem teaching myself but I don't know how to go about finding somewhere to take the exam, booking it etc.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction please?

You take the exam as a private candidate. Maths is exam-only (no controlled assessment) so is relatively straightforward.

You've missed the deadline for finding a centre for June I think, unless you pay way over the odds and even then not sure if it's possible.

November resits have mostly been stopped, but not for Maths.

So off the top of my head I'd say you need to find a centre ASAP (tuition centre, private school, state school, FE college) and you just tag along with the centre's own candidates in November, assuming they are doing resits.

I have info and links about exams on my website (including links on how to find an exam centre)

Thank you for replying. Would I phone the exam board or phone the exam centre to sort it out? I'm not rushed for this year but the aim is to teach primary (doing history degree through the OU at present) and I need Maths and Science.

I think all the answers should be in the links I gave above.

This is an anchor for the part of the page which gives links to Exam Boards for private candidates, tips on finding a centre and how to navigate the process.
