Hiya,
I've just bought my dd (10) an ipod touch and would like to add some good educational apps onto it. There is such a big choice out there I wondered if any fellow Home Edders could recommend some good ones? KS2/3 level please.

Thanks in advance x

Ooooh! I bought an ipad2 when we started HE, and we luuuuuurve it. Wink

I'll go and get it in a bit and tell you the names of our favourites - just got to have breakfast first.

Ok, here are our favourites since we started HE a couple of months ago.

I discovered that DD (9) didn't really grasp the difference between counties, countries and continents, so we started with this free continents & oceans app. Then we found the brilliant TapQuiz Maps World Edition - also free. This was where I remembered that my knowledge of basic geography (ie where countries are in relation to other countries) is very sadly lacking, Blush so we both spent ages on this app, which is really addictive. Then we found Stack the Countries which is also great, but I think the ipod screen would be too small.

Maths ones...

Factor Samurai is very addictive (and free) for learning prime numbers. Pearl Diver is great for fractions (it's pretty challenging, too).

Our favourite has got to be Math Bingo - DD loves this, and it really helped her familiarity with numbers in general and times tables in particular.

There's a few to be going on with. Wink

I love this historical maps one - it's free and had loads of detailed old maps on. The lite version of speed anatomy is free. We have the full version and DD's getting really good!

I just downloaded this about evolution. And this is £1.49 but pretty damn cool. I've got quite a couple more on cells and molecules if you want them.

thanks guys - I've had to put stack the countries onto my ipod too as it is FAB (hehe)
