Right - first off my son is only one so forgive me for getting rather ahead of myself Blush

My dh and I both work part time and share care of our son. We intend to send him to nursery at age 3, mostly because it is bilingual (dh from Japan). Neither of us want to fully home ed but we're very interested in the idea of flexi schooling, especially while he is young. A number of reasons really - children don't start school/reading/writing till later in Japan, we want him to be able to spend lots of time outdoors, and my dh is actually a teacher with some ideas about learning that are very different from the British system.

I just wondered about people's experiences with this. Are LAs cooperative? Do kids feel left out?

Are you in England? Do you live in a rural area? You stand the best chance of getting a flexi arrangement if you approach a rural primary with falling rolls. More info here edyourself.org/articles/flexischoolingconference.php
